IHC Aesthetics 2010 - The End!

The final event of IHC Aesthetics 2010, Dramafest, concluded on saturday! BB came in third for Dramafest! Great job to all BB cast and crew!

This brings us to the final standings after IHC Aesthetics 2010 (drumroll)....

Below is a detailed breakdown for each event! Just FYI, Musicfest, Dramafest and Orientation are major events (15 points for 1st place, then 11, 8, 5, 2), while the rest of the events are all minor events (6 points for 1st place, then 4, 3, 2, 1)

IHC has been a fantastic 3 weeks, and BB House D would like to thank:

Friday was MUSICFEST, and it was simply amazing! Following this year's theme, "Boomz", our very own Buckle Buckley Musicfest team, headed by Joel Koh, Gerald Sng, and Johnathan Ng, came up with a suitably sensational arrangement that left the audience at the edge of their seats! :D:D

Even though we emerged as overall 5th, it was great fun seeing all the BBMF people get high on stage and the audience going wild with BB's high-energy performance! Kudos to the bold, creative rockers of BBMF2010!

IHC Aesthetics 2010 - Day 5!

RSN -- FIRST! :D

Ok that's like the only thing to announce for today. well RSN was super exciting, BB was actually behind by 100 points at the start of the buzzer round, but emerged victorious by 5 points! woohoo. It could have been more if the team (including this guy) did not get over enthu at easy astronomy questions. Getting over enthu is not a good thing, cauz it leads to crazy buzzer smashing which is not the most effective method of buzzing in.

This brilliant result now propels us to 2nd place, 5 points behind BW! gogogo for the rest of the events! :D:D

Only one event for today -- Congkak. and BB was third! congratulations! :D which means that now BB is tied for second place on 33 points! woohoo! :D

On a side note, happy birthdays to Yutian and Ruolin! Yay. Yutian is 18 while Ruolin is 4 and a half! Happy birthday!

Day three of IHC Aesthetics has concluded!

Gavel: Congrats and all the best to Ashish and Yong Sheng for making it into the finals of the impromptu speech category!

To the bridge ppl -- you guys were absolutely brilliant! great job for pwning everyone else, and congrats also to BB team 1 for being the champion team overall!

To the shogi participants -- even though some of you have never played shogi until lunch today, a job well done for securing third position! FYI: BB and MT were tied for second on points, but MT had 11 wins to BB's 10, so yeah, it was really close!

IHC Aesthetics 2010 - Day 1!

WHOA! IHC Aesthetics Day 1 has just concluded and what a ride it has been! From the ticking anxiety of International Chess IHC to the mind-numbing river-crossing of Chinese Chess IHC to the vivacious atmosphere of IHC Debates, BBians old and young male and female experienced and inexperienced (oops sounds dubious) united in a bid to do our house proud!

After almost 4 hours of IHC goodness, the breakdown is as follows:

Chinese Chess: 1st :D
International Chess: 5th

And the house standings so far (w/o orientation IHC):

BW: 9
BB: 7
MR: 6
HH: 6
MT: 4

Which means that BB IS OVERALL SECOND! GOOD JOB GUYS!

To the amazing International Chess players: You guys put up such a good fight even though we were significantly disadvantaged due to a lack of experienced players. But despite being pitched against seasoned national chess team players, you guys still managed to press on, smile and have loads of fun! It was really heartwarming seeing you guys singing and making funny sounds and enjoying yourselves :):)

Arman the man! and Yutian! Came down even though they had virtually no experience, but lasting against national players for >10minutes (and ALMOST winning one game!) is a feat in itself! :) Thank you Armaan and Yutian!

Our star player KHAIRI who won three games!! who had to leave for malay dance halfway but guess what, HE SHUTTLED BACK for every single game! Now that's what I call dedication! Thank you khairi!
And of course, Bernard, Hanzhung, and Keng Yong for gamely sitting down to games of i-chess, you guys rock!!!! Will dig around more for your photozzzz!

To the mindblowing Chinese Chess players: You guys were phenomenal! You sure showed the other houses what tough stuff BB is made of! And as if being champions is not enough, you guys will forever be remembered as the ones who clinched the FIRST first position for IHC 2010!!! and of course, there will be more firsts to come yeah! :)

To the stylo mylo Debaters: Fantastic job! You guys really debated with flair, confidence and conviction, it was amazing just looking at how you all handle the IHC unfazed and with so much aplomb! BB is so lucky to have a team like you guys (more updates coming later, this writer did not stay at debates for long!)

RI Buckley

Description
Mr. C.B. Buckley was one of the trustees of the school from 1883 to 1888. He was very interested in the welfare of school children in Singapore and was popularly known as "the children's friend". He met the entire cost of the publication, Rafflesian, in 1886.

Buckley House gets its name from C.B. Buckley, who was the Secretary to the Board of Trustees from 1883 to 1900. Buckley had been a true friend of the school. Buckley had been a resident of Singapore for fifty years. He came to Singapore in 1864 and was attached to the firm of A.L. Johnston for 11 years. In the meantime he took up company law. He then resigned from A.L. Johnston and joined the firm of Rodyk and Davidson. Later he became assistant to Thomas Braddell, then Attorney-General. He later served as confidential adviser to the Sultan of Johore.

Buckley was very interested in the welfare of the school children in Singapore. He was popularly known as the "children's friend" and his annual Christmas party for children was attended by as many as 1000 children. It was a delightful feature of every Christmas celebration in Singapore.

Description
Ms. D.M Buckle was the principle of RGS from 1910-1937 and remains the longest serving principle of RGS. She made her mark as a trainer who produced teachers with high standards of efficiency, traits which she herself possessed strongly. She was also a strong advocate of advancements in education and is remembered for her strictness and ramrod-straight posture. She was so well-liked by her teachers that they were known to refuse offers of promotion for fear of losing the privilege of working with her.

1. If you had to be any animal, what would it be?

How about a DUCK? Haha random. Ok maybe not so random. If you know Chinese, then you will realize that my surname is the same the “surname” of Donald Duck’s Chinese name. =D Some of my friends have called me that since Primary school. But it’s not one of the more “common” ones. My friends really call me by a lot of names. For instance Yarrrrrrr, Huiyarrrrrr, Yao, (and last time) Huigey. And because in Chinese my name sounds like a lot of stuff, I’m also called “sugar can shake”, “rock sugar” etc. But I’m used to it now, after so long =D

2. Who would you want to meet if you could meet anyone in the world?

Bono from U2! U2 makes fantastic music (not my favourite band though, my favourite would be COLDPLAY). One of my favourite songs is “sometimes you can’t make it on your own”. I guess Coldplay’s and U2’s musical styles are similar so that’s why I like both bands. Plus, Bono is extremely involved in humanitarian work (he cofounded ONE) and that’s what I think superstars should all be doing (with their large amounts of money). Oh, and his shades are very cool (he always wears them and the shades always seem different).

3. What alternative animals could represent bb?

(there doesn’t seem to be a lot of animals that are green) I guess maybe a very fast turtle (well, it’s green!). And turtles can be seen as steady, strong and resilient, never buckling under the pressure. And I have pet turtles at home, they are actually very interesting creatures.

4. What does BB best stand for (besides buckle-buckley of course)

Biggest Brain. There was a period of time when I was completely addicted to that game on facebook.

1. If you had to be any animal, what would it be?

I would be a polar bear. I can eat all I want without worrying, roll and play in the snow and finally be able to swim. PERFECT LIFE!

2. Who would you want to meet if you could meet anyone in the world?

Definitely Ellen Degeneres. It’s not just because she is one of the most natural entertainers in the business, but I admire her for her courage in showing her audience who she really is as a person. She has come a long way in her life after all her past jobs and experiences and I would like to know more about her.

3. What alternative animals could represent bb?

I would think the next best creature would be a centaur - a mythological creature that’s half human and half horse. Centaurs are fast, tough and strong, just like BB for we are a strong as a house and we persevere until we achieve our goals. Like a centaur that’s half-human, we may possess all these fiery qualities but most importantly, we hold on to the human side of ourselves.

4. What does BB best stand for (besides buckle-buckley of course)

BURNING BRIGHT. Which can mean a lot of things. In relation to house, as long as we are united, we will continue to triumph and shine even though there are obstacles in our way. In relation to life in general, it could refer to the desire to find purpose in our lives or it could be a simple declaration of love, like the flame in my heart will always be burning bright for you.

1. If you had to be any animal, what would it be?

Okaaayyy I think I'll be a monkey or a horse cos I can get really high and crazy sometimes! People call me 'duck' and 'giraffe' sometimes too, although I think it's more for their own entertainment hehe.But i think I want to be a wolf, they're pretty cool yo!

I want to meet my thirty year old self! :D hehe that would be really exciting righttt. okay or really freaky. but i think it'll be quite cool to know the future and what's in store yepp.

haha actually I don't think there's a specific animal that could actually represent BB cos we're such a diverse and unique house! Maybe those kind of mutated animals (but not the ugly ones heh). Going Green (:

During BB Goes Green, 100 J1 and J2 BBians got down and dirty at Bishan Park and got to know the environment. Ling Wei Tsi talks to Kelvin Woon and Victor Leung, organisers of the event.

Most BBians have never even heard of a cangkul before, let alone even touched one, before BB’s CIP event(it’s a hoe). On the 21st of Feb, 100 BBians learned exactly what it meant to be a gardener. Raking and weeding may sound easy, but it is harder than it looks, as many can testify.

Raffles Press (RP): How did the idea for BB Goes Green come about?

Victor: Well, we wanted to conduct a mass activity where BBians could do something for the environment and have fun at the same time, and so we thought about working together with NParks on this. We originally wanted to plant a BB tree, but the budget didn’t allow for it.

Kelvin: Yes, it all began when we decided we wanted to organize a house CIP event. After much thinking, we finally decided that an environmental effort would best reflect BB as the green house, and there you have it!

RP: Tell us more about what you did at NParks.

Kelvin: Well, we raked away lots of leaves at the park, which really made us realise how much work the cleaners had to do every day; especially when we spent loads of time and effort clearing up leaves only to realise more leaves were falling right behind us on the spot we cleared. We also learnt a lot about the different types of plants in the Green Vibes Garden, such as Lady Finger plants, dragonfruit, dill and tapioca. The nice aunties at Bishan Park also gave us sugarcane to eat – which was very hard, they had to teach us how to peel and eat it.

Victor: Yeah, we raked up a mountain of leaves and filled lots of trash bags, but realised that it didn’t seem to make much of a difference – there were just so many leaves! Even though we thought raking was a waste of effort because the leaves just kept falling, the NParks supervisor explained to us that it’s still necessary – the dry leaves are a potential fire hazard if left alone. Weeding was very tough as well; most of us didn’t know how to tell the difference between weeds and plants, and the roots were so deep it was hard to pull them out. 10of us couldn’t even clear a 3 meter patch of weed in 1 hour. We were very satisfied with our weeding too, despite the fact that we were told that the weeds would grow back soon enough, because it felt so good to be doing something for the environment.

RP: What would you say was your greatest take away from the event?

Kelvin: Well, we always believed that BB was the most awesome house ever, especially in terms of our house spirit, and camaraderie. For me, the success of the event reflected the amount of support and love the J1s had for BB, and the assured knowledge that the bunch of us from grassroots can leave the BB in these great hands is surely my greatest takeaway.

Victor: Definitely the smile on everyone’s faces as we sat around, tired and sweaty, after the event as we enjoyed the fruits of our labour. Although a close second was working with the HouseComm and HouseD on this together; it was great fun working together and weeding together! For most of us, BB Goes Green was a reminder of how hard it could be to go outside our comfort zones. And we all loved it.

Hello BBians!

IHC Aesthetics concluded with the closure of the last event, Dramafest (which BB got 3rd for).
As such, our great house, bucklebuckley, are now AESTHETICS CHAMPIONS!(:

Cliche as it may sound, thanks goes out to all of you out there who cared, who came down and participated, who check the blog religiously for ihc updates, and who wears the bb collarpin with pride(: Without you all these would not be possible.

But this doesn't mean we should simply bask in the glory of our victory. A House needs to be maintained - its spirit raised and its people involved. With the winding down of house activities for J2 cts, we hope all of you would not forget all the happy times shared with your housemates, and will continue to look forward to and support our upcoming initiatives(:

We promise to let BB be the most happening and exciting house ever in the history of RIJC, but to achieve that we need YOUR enthusiastic response(:

yayyy its finally our turn to get featured :D haha, anyway it’s been really really awesome being your OGL because you all were so enthusiastic during Orientation!!! i must say that I was initially worried that my OG would turn out to be a stoned one (you know, must expect the worst right…) and it would be harder to make everyone click, but noooo! BB06 was the best best best OG I could ask for, and it made OGLing so much easier because of all your active participation! (: it’s really heartening to see everyone interacting with each other so easily (like playing the thumb thumb game with forks and spoons!), cheering each other on during station/ war games and working as one whole OG together during all the activities e.g. fashion parade where all of you stayed back after batch project to cut the bullseye and all! :D

thanks for all that you’ve done and made for us, be it making cards for us and the vanguard sheet thing with all your names on it (I’m still keeping it!), treating us to food (e.g. pizza on the last day of orientation), staying so late after orientation just to wait for us to finish debriefs, and simply for being soooo hyped up throughout orientation! it just makes me so proud being your OGL (: you all were just mind-blowing!

and even after orientation, thanks for being so on about going for OG outings (sorry I couldn’t make it sniff!) and thanks for participating in all the BB events e.g. BBQ, BB CIP etc! and I think our OG shirt is just AWESOME (x infinity!) i’m so totally going to wear it somewhere one day and let the whole world know that I have such a wonderful OG whoo! :D i really hope that orientation has been a positive experience for all of you, and I hope that the friendships/ bonds made within our OG will stay such that all of us will say hi to each other when we see each other around school okay! IHC comm is incharge of organizing all ihc events, from publicity, liaising with ccals to ordering prizes and trophies.
MSU comm is incharge of match supports, all necessary logistics, GRIFFLES! as well as compulsory class ms.

2. Communications department
WUTW, teasessions, topic feedback
basically self explanatory, incharge of liaising and collecting feedback from the school population, dissemination of information as well as helping guide ccad and welfare in the right directions.

3. Welfare department
Services, external/internal welfare, action project unit
Services handle the hodge lodge, its logistics and manpower allocations
E/I W takes charge of individual council welfare projects such as MMM, homecoming, internal council outings/bday celebrations etc
APU is involved in acting on feedback gathered from commzd, such as canteen makeover etc

4. House Directorate!(:
THE BEST DEPARTMENT EVER! (IHC, Welfare, Publicity)
Unlimited jobscope, easily the most flexible and demanding of all departments(: least people but lots of room to explore. Involves basically welfare, ccad AND commzd work on a smaller scale. For those truly passionate and driven about the house.

b. FUNCTIONS

Apart from department work, each councillor also has to choose one function to work on in their term. These functions are

1. National day
2. Teachers day
3. Grad Night
4. Open House
5. Orientation
6. Take5!
7. Council Camp

Function work is more seasonal and helps alot in getting to know more about your fellow councillors. If you get a great comm like this year's take5! (haha im so biased..) it will be super fun and exciting! (you might even get to stay over at pasirris park! and try out all the inflatables first:D:D)

Featured OG: BB08 – O’oops I did it again!

Hey BBians!

Firstly, and very importantly, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH to every single BB-ian who has participated in the IHCs and pushed us up from our initial 4th to the current SECOND position! BB even won 3 out of the 5 events yesterday! (: The House D and House Comm are really really proud of you all, so do give yourselves a pat on the back because we sincerely appreciate the effort and contributions that you have made for BB!(: Let's aim to keep this fighting spirit going on alright! BB all the waayyyyyy :D

Also, BB CIP is happening tomorrow! Aren't you all excited!?!? You will be involved in activities such as weeding and raking, so it probably will be a different experience for most of you! (: And it's pretty fun too, so do look forward to it!

From the pre-morning-assembly time when everyone is chionging dumb Math tutorials for no apparent rhyme or reason (like HELLO, FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL?!!) when us J2s are totally relaxing and hoping to spend some quality time with YOU ALL (hmpf!), to OG breakfasts/lunches where we camwhore at playgroundzx (ONE OF OUR FAVS), to just talking to some of you during our common breaks! HEY OINKIES!

Feels like forever since Orientation ended, but we're super glad to see your pretty faces sitting together every morning at the 'Ome (: Even though JC life gets tougher by the day, the bonds that we have made will always be stronger, and you can always count on each other to be there for you each morning (: And even during class time, it's awesome that we get to call out to each other across corridors!

It's so amazing that you've managed to come so far, but we had no doubt you guys were able to make it through Orientation stronger than ever! From the very first night when you guys really put in the effort to get to know the rest of your OGmates, both guys and girls :O till the last where you stayed to super late just to savour the last minutes of Orientation for a little bit longer. The late nights talking tonnes of crap over dinner at expensive-but-air-conditioned Food Junction, trekking around Singapore during EA with barely a break in between for lunch, rushing here and there just so you could get more points for the OG, singing tunelessly in the RI canteen while cutting ears and twisting tails, playing bridge endlessly almost all over the place, cleaning pink spray paint off the floor of the RI canteen… There's countless of ridiculous yet fabulously fun things that we did that we hope we'll never ever forget, and the same goes for you!

Thanks so much for being the best, most splendid and superrrr OG we could have ever asked for! Thanks for being so enthusiastic about everything, putting in so much effort for EA, dance, costumes, Valentine's day, people's birthdays, super lengthy mass convos… the list goes on and on, and it's all the tiny little things that you guys do that make us awfully happy to have the opportunity to be your OGLs! We love you guys to bits and pieces!

As Orientation becomes but a distant memory (which will be in the distant future, we hope), remember to keep our OG photo in your wallet and the rest of the photos on your computer so that whenever you get lonely and nostalgic, you can just whip them out and stare at our gorgeous faces. The stresses of school life can start piling up pretty quickly, but BE STRONG and just O'ink at any obstacles you may encounter! And remember, we will always be there for you, no matter what.

Don't you guys miss Orientation? Well, your OGLs sure do! (: More than being able to skip lessons to have fun, we miss hanging out with you guys! ): (hint hint: OG OUTINGS! xD)

Really, like we've already told you many times over, you guys have been such an awesome bunch of OGlings; we couldn't have asked for anyone better! (:
Right from Day 1, although you guys started out as relative strangers and naturally, were still rather shy and quiet, in the way you interacted with each other, you managed to erase any doubts and apprehension that we initially had about the OG - how it may not be bonded, unenthusiastic and essentially, like an OGL's greatest nightmare - dead. But of course, you guys gave us no cause for concern and turned out so different - worlds apart in fact! And in an absolutely good way. (:

Thank you for being ever-so enthusiastic and happening and fabulous and wonderful and awesome and not forgetting - retardedly amusing and entertaining. =D You really made O'tiero an amazing experience (though exhausting, but hey, you guys made it all worth it) for us! (((:

And of course, throughout Orientation and in all the activities, especially Station Games, War Games & External Activity, thank you for putting in your all and for taking the initiative to formulate strategies and encouraging each other, including your OGLs as well! Like how you were so pumped up for all the War Games, emerging 1st in two of three games we played. (well, we all know what happened to the other game...) That's a fitting testament of your efforts! xD

It's really really really heartwarming to see you guys so passionate and enthusiastic about the House. And thank you for being so patient and co-operative with us; we really appreciate it.

Well, treasure your short two years in JC, cos if you haven't realised, two years is a really short time and it passes soooo quickly. Just like how us OGls actually feel as though our own Orientation was just yesterday. And now, we're drowning in our school work. =/ So please, enjoy your J1 year as much as you can, cos once it's gone, it's believe it's gone forever...

We really hope that you guys stay close and bonded as an OG, even after we've graduated. Afterall, these were the very people you first got acquainted with in RI(JC). And that'd really be awesome, so please make it happen alright! (:

As you should know already, BB CIP is going to be on the 21st Feb 8am-12pm, so you MUSTTTT keep that date free and go greeeeen, especially if you have paid $10 during Orientation because it includes the CIP as well! Anyway, hello BB12, your hyperactive and big-mouthed OGL, Dylan speaking! Haha, I know I’ve probably already blogged about this on our lovely OG blog, but it’s alright, I can say it all again cause O’hno we’re totally awesome yo.

Orientation has been a blast with you guys, and I’ve only really noticed it after it all ended (because I was so really tired during Orientation). You guys were a really sweet bunch of OGLings that never failed to laugh at my quirky comments and cold jokes, and were always so ready to scream and shout and joke and do whatever nonsense we told you guys to do. I loved the fact that you guys were so spontaneous about your costumes, and helped me gel horns onto my hair ( which I took like three days of constant shampoo-ing to get rid of) ; loved the fact that you guys were so thoughtful in your gifts to us ; loved the fact that you guys really left pleasant memories with me, and that I smile whenever I think of the dumb stuff you guys did during Orientation. Aiyah, I just love the fact that I’m the OGL for BB12, and because of you guys, I have never regretted being a part of Orientation.

Orientation’s over, and life is starting to be like a vacuum cleaner for me and all the other J2s,but I know BB12 will still continue to have the fun and laughter that it had during Orientation, maybe even MORE! So don’t forget to ring us up whenever you guys are having a gathering or a outing or playing that game Huiyao introduced to us alright?

So it’s around 1 week since orientation passed, I hope all of you are enjoying school and having fun with your classmates! : ) And I think it’s really great that you guys are still so bonded and enthusiastic ♥, having so many lunches/meetings/games/crazy mass conversations from which your OGLs always have to leave because they have to study etc haha! Wow it’s only been little more than a week since Orientation ended but the memories remain fresh in my head (: all the laughing and fun really made me proud that I got to be the OGL of such a fun and happening bunch of people. I was pretty afraid that you guys would only remember me as Pinocchio and not really have anything to relate to me personally, but I guess all your words on the gift you gave us OGLs really reassured me that I’ve managed to make more friends, as it were.

Don’t stop meeting up so soon, cause that’s what really keeps OGs alive and kicking (: but more importantly, enjoy the JC experience! It’s two years to be savoured and I wish you the best of luck in your rapidly-growing lives. May BB12 stay forever in us!

We hope JC life has been treating you well so far. It’s really awesome to know that the OG is still going strong! Woohoo we love you all so so much and trust us, we really want to return to the orientation days as well.

You all have been a very enthusiastic and spontaneous bunch, never failing to take the initiative and supporting one another all the way. It’s amazing how no one is ever left behind, because every one of you makes sure that it doesn’t ever happen. Station games, war games, EA and fashion parade – they just proved that you guys are such a passionate and excited bunch!

Every single one of you is special in your own way, and has contributed to the awesome-ness of BB02 in one way or another. Your OG mates are the first ppl whom you meet to have fun in this college and we certainly hope that you all will stay closer, get closer, be damn close to one another and be happy to crown them your good buddies okay! Of course we cannot force but you all certainly can try! Give one another a chance? If Orientation wasnt long enough for enough ice to melt, give yourself one or two more weeks! You all take the initiative to meet in the morning, meet for lunch, meet to go watch a movie or cycling while ur timetable still allows okay! Hey all you O'ddballs!

Orientation is over and we're all leaving O'tiero and going back to our mundane little lives full of lectures, tutorials, lessons, work and assignments. But fear not! This may be the end of orientation, but it certainly isn't the end of BB04 O'DDBALL!

We just wanna say that orientation would not have been such an amazing experience for us without you guys! Your enthusiasm, cheerfulness and all round oddness really added Technicolour(TM) to the past 5 days and we will miss you loads! Remember the first day, when you guys sat down and there was an immediate guy-girl divide? Well look at you now, all comfortable with each other! Seriously, we felt like proud parents, seeing you guys grow over the past week and setting off into the unchartered waters of RI(JC) today!

So thank you, Yan Ling, DJ, Dom, Geri, Wei Te, He Shi, Katrina, Abby, Abigail, Nigel, Amos, Yi Ting, Young Yi, Ryan, Kiat Hong, Huijun, Ernest and Siow Kiat for the wonderful memories and the fun-filled times that made skipping lessons for an entire week (and having to practically die in order to catch up) so worth it. You guys are simply too awesome for words and WE LUBBUX YOU WORX!

O'Tiero Day 4 & 5!

Hey BB-ians!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday! ): But here's what happened on the last 2 days of Orientation!

Day 4 consisted of mainly batch dance sessions, a 0.5 hour rain dance session, CCAD talk, and the fun activity (a.k.a. batch project - the tile mosaic)!

The last day of O'Tiero consisted of Take 5 and Orientation Night (O'Night)!

Orientation Night was a blast, with every OG dressing up oh-so-prettily for the fashion parade! (: J1s were also treated to a skit by their OGLs (a spoof of O'tiero), after which J1s danced the (modified) batch dance + the rain dance, videos were played, the tile mosaic was displayed! (: J1s then moved to the parade square where they witnesssed the burning of the word "O'Tiero" which would mark the end of Orientation 2009.

(I don't have much good photos of O'Night because I wasn't there at that time. I'll upload if I find more, like BB-ians all dressed up and the final tile mosaic <3!)Skit by OGLs!

...and the memories of O'tiero 2009 will forever be imprinted in our minds :D

O'Tiero 2009 ended with a bang, but this only marks the start of many more friendships to be forged and many more experiences to be enjoyed! We sincerely hope that all BB-ians will keep in touch with your fellow OG members and OGLs, and most importantly, we want all BB-ians to continue to be committed to the house, by participating in inter-house competitions (IHCs) and simply cheering for BB! It's through the combined effort of every single one of us that we managed to get joint 3rd for IHC Orientation, and if every BB-ian does his or her part for the house, we WILL be champions in no time! ((:

Hello BB-ians!

Day 3 of Orientation has ended, which also means that most of the more physical/ hectic stuff is over! What's most important though, is that BB J1s participated in WAR GAMES aka IHC Orientation today, and indeed, they played their hearts out for BB! So yay to all our BB-ians! ((:

To recap the day's events,

We started off with IHC opening, which wowed everyone because it was really fantastic!

After that we proceeded on to session 2 of the batch dance! (:

Next came the oh-so-exciting WARRRR GAMESSSSSS! There were a total of 4 war games, including Invasion, Tower Rush, Strip Me If You Can (which everyone loves, somehow :D) and Uprising (which is played as an entire house!) BB-ians played with so much vigour and we're really proud of them!

We very unfortunately couldn't really complete Uprising properly because of the uncooperative weather )): it rained quite heavily, so thankfully we raised the flag (by removing the weights) before the rain started! but i'm sure BB-ians had fun while throwing newspaper balls in while it lasted x)

Hey BB-ians!

O'Tiero Day 2 has ended and what a tiring but extremely fun day it has been! (: We first started out with 'House Hour'(after storyline), where the BB House Directorate introduced our wonderful house and awesome initiatives to the new J1s, not forgetting to distribute the collarpins and the BB gifts they have made for them! awww.

External Activity (EA) was held in the afternoon, and thankfully the weather was brilliant most of the time! (: EA'09 consisted of OGs racing around the heartlands (Toa Payoh/Bishan/Ang Mo Kio) as well as the central area (Fort Canning/Esplanade/Bugis) to complete tasks and checkpoints!
